Anonymous Thank you for your reply. Do you have any experiences with upgrading the disks? As mentioned not all are the same firmware version and it's recommended by HP that the version is the same on all. I contacted HP and they said to update the disk firmware which I'm a bit affraid to do. The reason I asked for the age of TSP is since I'm wondering if it will do a direct update to TSP or an incremental to a version in between will take a lot more time.
It is a direct upgrade. I also would not recommend it as you will lose visibility quite often and will be flying blind for a bit as the process takes quite a while. You may regain access to see the event logs but just use the Smart Component updater as supported. When upgrading from all other firmware versions, install the TS firmware using the Smart Component.
If you tried updating the HDD firmware first while on T and was unsuccessful, update your controller firmware first and try again. Brick — It might happen, the SAN could become a brick after the firmware upgrade, always get a good backup of your data before you embark on the firmware upgrade.
Internet — This should go without saying, as you need to be able to download the drivers. First of all we need to download the right firmware at the time of writing this the TSP has been released, this can be obtained from To make things slightly easier the one you want is in the red box below.
After you have downloaded the firmware, we need to extract it, you can try the online flash, but for me it never works. The file we care about is TSP I have checked mine so we are golden. Rinse and repeat for the next controller, and you should be golden. This helps the update complete as quickly as possible and avoids disruptions to host and applications due to timeouts.

I have not been keeping up with the HP products. I have previously commented that I thought the main HP website was absolutely horrible. There was far too much visually stunning images, and it was far too difficult to find the product I was interested in. Apparently HP has revamped their website with cleaner lines. But I am not planning on using their portal to navigate.
